Southern Mississippi Head Football Coaching Search Update

The Hattiesburg American Newspaper, reported on Friday that the short list of coaching candidates to replace recently departed Larry Fedora includes the following:

1. Southern Miss Offensive Coordinator Blake Anderson
2. University of Louisiana-Lafayette Head Coach Mark Hudspeth
3. University of South Carolina Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Ellis Johnson
4. LSU Running Backs Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Frank Wilson

According to the writer, Patrick Magee, sources within the Golden Eagles football program believe administrators want to promote from within the USM family, which means Offensive Coordinator Blake Anderson might be the clubhouse leader.

Southern Mississippi is expected to begin interviews Tuesday and talk with multiple candidates to replace Fedora, who left last week to take over the football program at UNC.
